MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW 2007 YEAR

Christmas greetings to everyone. Hope you all enjoy your turkeys, fried chickens or murtabak.

All good things must come to an end. That's 2006. Hope for a fantastic 2007 for everyone.

Signing out & hope to meet up with you peeps in Malacca. Cheers.

Patrick meets the Queen!!

"Hi everyone,

Just thought of sharing a special photo with all of you. I might have mentioned that I was selected to be presented to the Queen, in royal terms that means meeting the queen, not presented on a plate :-) on Friday, 10th November 2006 being a representative from Malaysia as a commonwealth country. Her majesty is a genuinely nice person who not only shook my hand but took her time in talking to me. It is a very special experience for me as I have not even met out Agong in person nor our 9 other sultans but have met and talked to the Queen!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

OSW needs your help!

After much thought (and long periods of sitting on his a$$), our friend has finally decided to take the plunge and start his own blog. It won't stray far from topics that we all know are close to him....controversial, subversive & instigative articles that would get him locked away (and no it has nothing to do with S&M this time).

OSW needs an anonymous blog name but has no idea what to call it. So this call is going out to all our friends from the Malaysia to Singapore to US of A, to London, Australia and Japan.

Your mission, which you have to accept, is to suggest a new blog name that would:
- have a sexy aura to it
- reflects his persona
- be anonymous (OSW_at_Nilai.blogspot.com just won't cut it)
- suggest future greatness

Please put your suggestions in the comment box (below this message)! If you fail to put in a suggestion after reading this, all your plants in your house would wilt and you would have bad luck for the next 20 minutes (and we know you are at work, so you don't want that, do you?).

Report on gathering 2nd December...

Hi there all,

In response to KG's call for someone to blog abt the small gathering on the 2nd Dec , I will try and do my small part la since I wuz there.

Firstly to answer Patrick's question: nope this we were not in London but good old Malacca - more precisely in a small mamak restaurant outside Daniel's/Shien Wei's houses in Cheng.

The pictures were in fact supposed to show a group that call themselves Ocean's Ten - sort of a prequel to Ocean's eleven (hey, that's the Hollywood trend - Phantom Menace anyone?). However MIA with valid excuses were Daniel Chua and his missus. So its up to yours truly, Winston (playing the role that starred matt damon in the original movie), Shien Wei (yeah that's you, mr clooney wanna-be!) and Szue Fei, Michael Tee (hello, brad pitt) and his other half, Beng Chen (andy garcia) and Shirrene (our julia roberts!)- all out to plot our next heist.

Seriously though, we had first gathered at Daniel's place to meet and we then proceeded to the mamak stall to eat as well as see Winston tearing his hair out when watching Man U play Middlesborough on tv. Of course along the way we had tossed up the following topics to dissect and debate in our typical scholarly manner..no, seriously ! They are, not in any particular order of importance -

(1) Daniel's new house
(2) Daniel's new washing machine
(3) the contents of Daniel's new washing machine
(4) Pang Kee Teik
(5) of bent wrists, waving handkerchiefs and such
(6) wedding preparations
(7) Hotel Equatorial Melaka
(8) 101 things mother-in-laws should not do while on stage performing during a wedding dinner
(9) Transformers, Voltron, Thunder Cats, M.A.S.K ... you get the picture
(10) games we guys grew up playing in school - chopping!, chapteh, patong, collecting Panini world cup stickers, badges, bottle caps, the game where we put a pile of cards on the table and we clap our hands and win over those cards that flip over- whatisitsname? ... anymore games to add anyone?
(11) Daniel Craig's incredibly sexy body (strictly among the women folks only I assure you)
(12) Class Reunion 2011 and the cruise to nowhere....

Finally,

This is Eric reporting for sfi-1991 blog, signing off from our small Malacca gathering on Dec 2nd 2006, over and out....

Small Gathering on 3rd December 2006

Photos courtesy of Szue Fei. Shien Wei, Beng Chen, Eric, Winston & Michael were there with their respective significant half. Someone who has been there should please drop in and blog something about this meet up?

Edited: 11th December 2006

Szue Fei: From the "significant half's' point of view, it was a good meet with loads of laughter and jokes. Reminiscing about what you guys used to play in school like jump rope (getah), hop scotch...batu seremban, ;-P

CKG: Alamak, batu seremban?? Like angkasawan wannabe :)

4 Days to go

In my opinion, this year's world cup is sure to be an exciting one. Who will win the World Cup this year ? I think it won't be any South American team. If you guys study the history, it's always an alternate winner between Europe and South America.

1970 - Brazil
1974 - W Germany
1978 - Argentina
1982 - italy
1986 - Argentina
1990 - Germany
1994 - Brazil
1998 - France
2002 - Brazil

So, you see the patern and why I said that this year's winner would be an european team ...
My Prediction would be Germany, Italy & Spain. But don't forget to look out for Swtizerland, I think they will go far too.

coupe du monde

dear everyone,

managed to get up n going on this blog after some registering hiccups. sorry i MIA for so long... like the world cup, i only appear once every 4 years~! (just kidding)
guess i must be the only first and only one of our cohort to suffer from a bit of mid-life crisis last couple of months..but now there is the world cup coming up this friday..for a month! hopefully this will sweep away the blues...
so i will be glad to hear a bit from the footie afficonadoes around who do you think will win the world cup? for me I personally will like to see a semifinal line up of italy vs argentina and brazil vs holland (yeap yours truly have worked up the probabilities and this permutation is entirely possible)

(ps: unfortunately i am not the tech savvy sort - dunno how to upload pictures la here. the only think 'savvy' about this author is playing fifa on my xbox ..especially to while away time during the half time of football matches in the god forsaken hours of dawn)

Congratulations to Patrick Ng and Ravidas

Congratulations Patrick. The article below was taken off his company's website. He would leave for the UK around September and would be there for a year (I hope I got the details right). So no more trudging around muddy and mosquitoes infested estates throughout Malaysia for the moment for Patrick - hope he gets to trudge around somewhere more pleasant in Europe.

Contacts Information

I have compiled some email addresses. Please go check it out. http://chongkg.googlepages.com/contactsinformation

R2011-the story continues...

Close to a year ago, there was a slew of emails about the next re-union. I guess it would be appropriate to put it here in case some of you have not read about it. It has been arranged to appear with the earliest message first....you would see that it was originated from Ravi (who else) based on the original email messages about Shirrene's legal predicaments.

As a bonus, since it's Labor's day holidays tomorrow, there would be some pics at the end to remind you guys of the great times at the last reunion.

Great news abt the reunion. I'll be the first to throw in my hat.

Another idea (to be considered) include packing away the whole lot of us onto a remote island for a couple of days aka Survivor style.

Of course, for those of us who want some creature comforts, can also consider booking in to some chalets instead of roughing it out and spare the tents building. That way can also bring all our nagging missuses and bawling kids along..haha.

May the force be with you,

Eric

Hi frens,

It's just great to know that the up-coming R2011 is on. I m sure all of you share the same enthusiasm like me. Believe me , it will be THE place to meet! So, Ravi-Count me in!

The last R2001, 54 persons inclusive spouses attended the gathering. This number would easily surpass by the next R2011.Pass the word around as the last reunion only saw Akira (Under Overseas Category) flew in.M.I.A = Hay Keng Shum, Vincent Tio, Philip Tan, Roshan Brito, Lenny Tan etc

Come to think of it, 6 years maybe a bit long to wait.... So, who's getting married next? Probably that would be the sub gathering until the big one.

As sure as the sun rises,
Sunny

U forgot Loh Yew Siong also. Haven seen him in ages.
Agree also that 6 yrs is too long but then again that is where the incentive is to make the effort to gather for that one occasion.

Anybody remember anyone else that MIA that we forgot to mention?

Meanwhile for all you star wars fans around, enjoy the joke i pasted below..

Dear All,
I am glad to notice that even the subject of this long e-mailhas changed to R2011 (as in Reunion 2011)...I guess I have Sunny M Lohto thank that for!
So R2011 will definitely be the gathering to be at. I think Ihave to thank all of you for your undying enthusiasm and keen spiritto rekindle the spirit of 1991! I mean which other group can sit down, listen and get tickled to re- runs of the antics of Ms Alice Chia, MrHo Yew Lum, Mr Jeffrey Santa Maria, Mr Sim Beck Choo, to name a feww...
Anyway, to a long story short, we will outline the skeleton ofthis massive gathering at the next wedding whosever that mightbe....
Ciao..."Attention Franciscan a voice is resounding....."

Blue Ocean Strategy
When beating competitors simply means making them irrelevant
April 16, 2006

When big corporations as diverse as Nintendo and Cirque du Soleil are adopting 'Blue Ocean Strategy' in their marketing campaigns, you better watch out. Smart CEOs around the world are having a new book for their bedtime reading.

The book is titled: 'BLUE OCEAN STRATEGY: How to Create Uncontested Market Space and Make the Competition Irrelevant' co-authored by W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne (Harvard Business School Press, 2005). It deals with new approaches to tackle competition in the market place.....

Issues

Daniel asked me whether this blog would replace Yahoo Groups...well I have no idea. It depends how you people like using a blog to communicate. Of course a blog is easier to access - yeah you don't have to remember any passwords to read it, but then it's also open to public, meaning you don't want to post too much details on it.

So far this blog has been visited by:
Beng Chen
Jason Leong
Eric
Tong Huey (refer to tag board)

Tell me what you think about using a blog vs. Yahoo Group in the "comments" link at the bottom of this page ok?

Jason & Annie's Wedding - Part 2

Here are more Yam Seng photos contributed by Jason himself & Shirrene (the last one). Due to the size of the pictures, I had to reduce it's size. So if anyone of you want to do a print, please email me and I would sent you the original size.

As you can see from the photos above and below, this was the "decent" table.

This table started off the yam seng session very gentlemently...

...but it soon became a karaoke session...

...that went on and on...
