Over Some Ikan Bakar (& Sotong) - 13 Dec 08

Eric and I were back in Melaka this weekend. Coincidentally, Shien Wei and Szue Fei were back too. So how could we give meeting up a miss right?

While waiting for HRH Shien Wei to arrive at Daniel's place, Winston flashed me a megawatt smile - "see how bright my gigi are now that Josephine makes sure I cuci them twice a day"

Before setting off for a round of ikan bakar, the band of 4 brudders posed for a million dollar 'hansum' "tai lou-s" pic....

At the ikan bakar shop - no don't be mistaken. The Caucasian lady is SW and SF's friend from UK, not any unidentified lady hor....

Ahhh, a picture of bliss!

Where there's boys, there's balls talk (hey think striaght ok!). Ending off the night was a (tame and civilised) round of soccer news exchange.

Finally, assignment time. SW to Wins, his appointed point man in Melaka: "Go round up everyone for something this CNY ok!"

Ok then, we shall see everyone again during CNY!

Our Mr Marathon

Congrats to Chong, our Mr Marathon! He completed the half marathon run at the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon 2008 yesterday in good time. So you know who to look for if u need a running mate (pun intended - on the tracks and perhaps for the White House too?) eh?

To make up for his lost calories, we indulged in a Penang Hawker Fare buffet at the Orchid Country Club last night. Too bad the food standard was no where near what Shien Wei and family enjoyed in Pulau Pinang proper over the weekend ;-P

Anyone interested in the Stan Chart Marathon 2009?

Mr. Nonis...

Our HM from primary school. I don't remember much about him, except that he came to SFI when we were in Standard 6....right?

Reminiscing Down South

The buncha good ol' SFI boys in Singapore met up with Shien Wei and 3/4 of his brood for a seafood dinner at East Coast UDMC this recent Sat, 22 Nov....

So, there were,

the Choys,

the Ongs,

Chia Yee,

Eric & Shien Wei,

Shien Wei's very sweet little gal (her Mommy was there too),

And everyone else, minus me, the (lousy) photographer ;-P

What did they do? They dug in, they drank,

they gave speeches,

and they laughed!

After a night of solids (food), liquids (beer and Chinese teh) and air (from the laughing), it was time to bid farewell

Till we meet again, dudes!

Signing off,
Eric's Missus, Tong Huey

Mid Autumn Festival

Well we had a little BBQ makan in conjunction with the Mid Autumn Festival. The usual suspects who came were Winston & Josephine, Daniel & Grace, Jeffrey & Melissa, Shirrene (without her better half), KG (himself), Michael & Ee Fen.

Guess who started the fire? Yours truly of course!

Did anyone go back with tummy problems? Of course not... testament to the good old chefs

The kids ie Joshua Low & Ooi Jia Wen had loads of fun with the lanterns and such. You should have seen how black their feet were after the night was over!!

My happy clients

My sous chef

Jeffrey my lead waiter, making sure the kids are happy and entertained

Check those teeth out!

Ahh… with such picture perfect smiles, the rest of us could only seal our lips or flash what seem like grins at the camera. Not forgetting that flawless complexion... “brushing”, “scaling” and “polishing” simply just won’t work for some of us… ha! Well, if you know Philip as long as I do, you’d notice he looks pretty much the same as he was during kindergarten despite the 'size up'.

Should you happen to be in Melbourne and desire for a gleaming white or bright effect (dental only) every time you open that gab, you can now look up for Philip and Gina. Yup, the Tans have left the US and are now residing in Down Under. They were back on a holiday early this month when we caught up on topics from tartar and plaque to shortage of water in Melbourne, fuel hike in Malaysia, politics and church.

So what happens when a dentist gets together with another dentist? A shining piece of work, of course! Darn cute, eh? Hmm, little Henry doesn’t seem interested to take after mommy and daddy’s footsteps though…

Things you eat in Malacca

In a back lane in Malacca.....looks like pasar malam with money changing hands.

Different angle, and you see the happy diners.

While we waited for our turn.....

Ahhh....we finally started filling out the waste bin.

Another set of satisfied diners

Anyone else up for another round?
