Down (Alice Chia's Geography classes) Memory Lane

Just wanna share with you guys some pictures taken while I was Down Under recently, re-living some old lessons by Alice Chia - our geography teacher! On the left, are the geysers near Lake Roturua in New Zealand (looks like Mount Doom).
A farm near Waikato, also in North Island. There were a couple emus in there too. As I traveled around Auckland, funny how the names of the places sound so familiar from our old geography textbooks - the words Hamilton, Rotorua and (Dataran) Waikato just seems to roll off the tongue.

On the left is the beautiful Auckland skyline taken when we were at sea. Note the self proclaimed tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere- the Auckland Sky Tower. Nowhere as tall as the ones in KL though.

Next, is the quintessential postcard picture for any visitors to Sydney.

The jewel in the crown of the Blue Mountains in Sydney- the Three Sisters rock formation.

Next up is the famous Bondi Beach, Sydney. Used to be a nudist beach but unfortunately now it isn't.

The picture on the left is taken at a vineyard at the Barossa Valley in Adelaide. Wine aficionados will be familiar with the Jacobs Creek label - which vineyard is in the vicinity too.

Lastly is a picturesque autumn setting of a cafe taken in the cowboy town of Harndorf, in Adelaide Hills, near Adelaide.

Who was the "hunk" Amelia dated?

"...BTW, I know that it seems weird that I am reading a blog of the SFI peeps but hey.. it brings back memories for me too... since I did "date" one of you hunks back then!" (AH, 2007 May 1, 3:51pm, "Memories....Part 2", http://sfi-1991.blogspot.com/2007/04/memoriespart-2.html#comments)

That statement apparently had some of us scratching our head and armpits and asking questions.

So to put the questions to rest, we hope AH could clarify the identity of the above mentioned hunk....

Is he the...

The constant rebel, or is he...

The guy who's deadly with the ladies and the accounting ledger...or could he be...

The Terminator of Taman Seaview....eh now that he is a doctor.....don't call him Terminator in public OK?

Or could he be the closet romantic....?

P/S: Ok, I hope you'll take this as a joke...it's a Monday, hope you had a good laugh.

SPIDER-MAN 3

Original Post: 5th May by Jason Leong

Has any of you watch Spiderman 3? If you read today's Star paper, there's this guy trying to be "Superman" by recording the movie using his mobile phone. Anyway, he was caught by the CCTV and the "Cinema-Man" apprehended him after that. Seems like the Cinema-Man has outshined Spidey and took the credit during the show. So what's the moral of the story? Whenever you are at the cinema, always remember that "Cinema-Man" rules!!!

Edited: 20th May 2007 - CKG

Well, the show has been released for about 2 weeks now. Anyone watched it? What's your opinion. Anyway Ravi had posted his thought about this movie:
http://imdb.com/title/tt0413300/usercomments?filter=chrono;start=170

I saw this highly anticipated film that I was waiting for 3 years. I have been keeping in touch with the development of the movie, seen all the trailers, but when I saw the film, it seemed less exciting than what the trailers seem to promise. I remember watching the trailers for Spider-man 2, and when the film reeled out I was blown away. Somehow this blown away feeling did not exist for Spidey's third outing. Something was missing. It is strange because the film had more funny moments, sad moments, villains, beautiful women, action scenes and it seemed to focus more on the side shows, but that tried to steal the heart of the film....Spider-man! I mean, where was he? I did not get to see enough of him in this film. I remember in Spider-man two within the first 5 minutes we see him flying around delivering pizza and saving kids on the street. This film by itself is a much serious version of the lighter, snappier prequels we have been treated to. So when the film makers decided to make a difference with this film, somehow it was not what the viewers were expecting. If there was no Spider-man, and Spider-man 2 films to compare with, this film would have been excellent. It is not a kid's film, for sure. I had many questions as to why Spidey behaved the way he did even before the changes in him took place.....too many questions in the film were left unanswered, a few scenes were kind of hurried, some scenes did not make sense. Also because there were many characters in the film, each scene was too short to be remembered. Overall, this is a good film, but does not live up to the built-up hype. Looking forward to a better Spider-man 4!

Prefects-1985. We were in Standard 5 then.

Haha the school nerds...oops s#!t I am sitting there too. Anyway it was fun...and whatever happened behind the locked the doors of the library should remain among the librarians ;) Sunny has the extremely worried "I didn't do it" look while Patrick doesn't look convincing in his innocent look. Ravi has nodded off in the warm morning sun.

Prefects of 1986. We were in Standard 6 then. It's Patrick turn to look extremely concerned now. Apparently global warming has been discovered. Ravi has fallen asleep again.

Seriously-lah guys...we know why you joined the scouts eh? Wow...where is Sunny?

NAKED CLEANERS

Did any of you read The Star paper yesterday about this article on "Naked Cleaners'? Well, for the benefit of those who didn't read this article, it is about engaging cleaners to do your house chores in a way you want them to dress or undress and it's not just female cleaners but male cleaners as well. However, there's no sexual advancement or hanky panky stuff. Sounds sadistic rite? Unfortunatly, this service is only available in the UK. I wonder has Lenny / Patrick / Ravi engage this sort of service...ha ha! For more info, you may go to www.nakeddomestics.com. Btw, any comment on this sort of services? Do you think it's necessary? Apparently, the company who provides this services is currently making good money.

"Old Time Buddies"

Edited: 18th May 2007. This post was created by Eric. Since I have some photos of the same topic, I had decided to add them in here instead of creating a new post. My Addition are at the bottom of Eric's entry - CKG

Ok guys, here are the photos in my own collection for the "Down Memory Lane series"....

This photo is taken with the 2 relief teachers fresh out of college (one of them is Ms Mary Thomas...forgot the other one) who was around to teach us English at form 4SW...after our dear Mr Peter Lim decided to call it a day. From the smiles on their faces, guess we did not make the two women's lives too difficult.. didn't we, guys?
{From left: Akira, Darian, Chia Yee, Yew Siong, me, Shien Wei, Michael Tee}

The group of us who gathered after the SPM exams to celebrate the end of exams! - or so we thought... naive little minds we had then. Ok, so maybe it was also a farewell dinner for Lenny who was leaving for the UK soon too. It was in one of the restaurants in Melaka Raya.

PS: strain hard enough on the table and you will see the evidences of the beginning of the loss of our innocence...empty Shandy cans!! Shucks..who drinks those now anyway? Bring on the Bacardis!!

{From left: Yok Wai, Jeffrey, Keng Shum, Shien Wei, Lenny, Wah Siong, me, Vincent, Ravi, Patrick}

Same night, same gang, different crime scene. Only now, the resident photographer was captured on the evidence too.

Think some joker wanted to go to the beach at Pantai Kundur/ Klebang in the dead of the night to look for either dead bodies being washed ashore or mermaids singing their ghastly lullabies!

Patrick, Vincent and Shien Wei gesticulating wildly and hyperventilating at the same time...as the mermaids finally bared their torsos at us!

Wah Siong giving his best "trying to look interested " appearance...naaah...he has been here, seen and done that many times before. Doesn't faze da man...

Last photo of a long long night. That's Lenny sitting on his dad's (I think) Merc . And Ravi looks like he may doze and slide off the hood if the cameraman takes any longer to shoot.

Meanwhile Jeffrey thinks Shien Wei needed some help in smiling - "Don't be so kayu can? Be like me ! "... Good portfolio for his toothpaste ad though.

Below are my photo collection of the dinner in Hikeng. I have also included some of the original comments I had in the album - CKG

1989 Pei Ling's Birthday party

Since I left these photos back in Malacca, I do not have most of the details (like date and names)...but I guess you all can guess it. Click on the photos to see an enlarged version.

That's Roger, Lenny, me & Chow

That's Amelia H, HY & Angeline S.

Frankly, I have very vague recollection of this event 18 years ago...should have looked for my diary while I was in Malacca but that's probably just not right. So for the others who were there, what's your thoughts?

p/s: Eric....please solve your login problems!!! We want to see what you have :-)
