Staying Alive...by Minding Your Language
Dear folks,
After a long period of inactivity in this blog, I have been asked to post something here to keep it alive just abit longer.
Since there is a dearth of new activities among our old classmates and there are only so many umpteenth times we can see our old class photos circa 1980s with short tight shorts, bad hairdos, grimacing faces, tired-looking old teachers etc., lets try a new way to jog down our memory lane.
For those of us not struck by dementia yet, remember how certain characters in our long school life had imbued our vocabulary with their rich, colorful, trademark phrases?
For example, it was not until I read the newspaper last week that I came across again this ‘primitive’ word that was once sprinkled so frequently upon us ‘fortunate’ enough to be in his classes… Correct me if I wrong, but wasn’t it Mr Lim Kim Han that used to yell at us.. “yoooou GOBLOCK! !!”
So folks….these includes the class jesters (yes, you know who you are), the ace impersonators, the chatterbox, the prankster, the one-who-always-get-punished-till-backside-grew-several-layers-thick, the quiet guy at the corner of the class etc. Feel free to contribute to this post what kind of words, phrases, sentences that you guys can remember from our teachers, ex-classmates or anybody, over the years from primary to secondary school in SFI.
Let’s try and create something that we can put down in writing so we can play it back at our next reunion gathering – whenever and wherever it maybe.
PS: more the tech savvy ones, can try la put a podcast even in your best impersonation voice.
Regards
Eric Lee
